Things We've Learned About Heidi

Over the last 6 weeks that Heidi has been our house guest we have learned lots of things about her.  Here are a few:

1. She is very soft and lovable.
2. She loves her food.
3. She loves car rides.
4. She now knows "Let's go potty" means she gets to go outside to go potty.
5. When we say "Let's go potty" she will run in little circles.
6. She knows her name very well.
7. She loves to sniff everything.
8. She is cat safe, she ignores our cats but she loves to eat their food!
9. She seems to be safe with small dogs.
10. She has adapted to life in our home very well.
11. She is very gentle and patient with our 13 mo. old granddaughter (we do keep her muzzle on when Katie is here).
12. She loves to go for walks.
13. She is very people friendly.  She has to greet everyone.  We had a garage sale and she was our official greeter until she got tired and decided to take a nap.
14. She loves to be petted, hugged, cuddled and kissed.
15. She is a wonderful girl.

Elegant In My Easter Bonnet

Heidi is all set for Easter and Spring in her new bonnet. You can see she has some beautiful flowers to give her forever family when they adopt her. Heidi is very much a southern lady. She is very gentle. Her fur is very soft. She loves to lean against you when you pet her. She loves to take lots of naps during the day to keep up her beautiful looks. She also enjoys going on walks on nice days. She does not beg at the dinner table but she is very excited when she knows you are going to feed her, she likes her food very much. She has been the perfect house guest. She is eagerly awaiting a forever family and forever home. She is so easy to love!

Heidi's First Week

Heidi has been with us almost a week. She has been a delight to have. It was a busy week at our house so Heidi had many new experiences. We had contractors in to paint our entry way, great room and sunroom. Heidi took it all in stride. We had thunderstorms, she came through those just fine. Sunday we had our granddaughters 1st birthday party at our house and we had about 25 people here and 6 of them were under 6 years old. She was relaxed and not at all concerned about all the people. We kept Heidi and Abby muzzled and they were loved and petted by all. She handled the children beautifully. One of my cats has also decided she is o.k. to have around and she will purr and rub up against Heidi just like she does Abby. Last night she spent her first night out of the kennel. She stayed quietly in her bed all night. We are delighted to be Heidi's foster family until she finds her forever home.

Transition to Foster Home for Heidi

Heidi came home with me last night. She and Abby had a "meet and greet" outside in our yard and then the girls came in the house. Heidi saw the cats a few times and paid no attention to them, good girl! We had a nice evening together and then it was time for bed. We got Heidi settled in her bed in our room for the night and didn't hear a peep from her until morning. This morning after going out and having breakfast the girls laid aroung and sunbathed in the morning sunshine coming into the living room. Later on we took a nice walk around the neighborhood. Heidi had very nice manners on the leash. We had a chance to talk to a woman who was out in the yard with her dog and she thought Heidi was a beautiful girl. We got to share about fostering, rescuing and adoption.

A Grande Dame

Heidi is very personable, AND she can SIT!!!! With her life being turned upside down, from the Humane Soceity to our kennel, she is taking it remarkably well. Older greys are wonderful...mellow...they've been around the block. She is a very lively girl!

The Bath

Here is Heidi getting her bath. She is such a sweet, more mature, girl who came to us from Hall County Humane Society. Not much is known about Heidi at this time, however, we are hoping to identify her shortly. We are just happy to have her! And I do believe she is feeling good!
